Do Stylists Love or Hate Tape Extensions?

In order to discuss this in depth, we also need to answer the question - are Tape Extensions bad for the hair?
The short answer is it all depends on the quality of the installation, therefore we always recommend hair extensions being installed by professional stylists/extension specialists. It also depends on how regularly the extensions are maintained. If they surpass the normal maintenance time parameters, they can get caught in styling tools and pull on the root like all extensions can do so, in this instance.
With tape and seamless tape extensions, you have an added element of glue to contend with.

Tape or Seamless Tape-in Hair Extensions are a reliable, lightweight and comfortable hair extension method. They are super quick to install, especially due to one sandwich of tape-in’s being 5g compared to 5g of Nano Ring Extensions. If you’re adding 100g of hair, you only need to install 20 sandwiches, this can be done (in freshly washed hair) in 30 mins, compared to Nano/Micro or Y-Tip which can take 60-75 minutes to install.

Most stylists and their clients come across issues when removing and reinstalling the tape-in extensions, due to the residual glue.
What we suggest when maintaining tape-in extensions is that there are two ways of approaching this removal and reinstall process to save the stylist and client precious time.
1. The client purchases two sets of hair extensions, you the stylist can then keep the removed extensions and assign separate timing to remove all glue and re-prepare the extensions for the customers next visit.
2. You remove the tape-in extensions, apply a safe talc powder to the tabs to dry up any residue and remover. At the same time, you can remove all residue from the clients hair with an oil based tape remover, and then proceed to thoroughly wash and condition the clients hair before drying - ready for reinstallation.

You can remove any residual glue from the tape tabs with a hair extensions scraper or your choice of non-damaging removal, before adding the new tape and re-installing. The beauty of tape-in extensions for us stylists is the speed of install, for the client it’s the comfort and seamless blend with their natural hair.
